Welcome to the Bar None. A lonely hole in the wall where poets sleep in the spilled stench of dreams gone flat, lovers come to console themselves when romance evaporates, and Angels come to look for lost halos in the rings at the bottom of the bottle.
This is a place where drunks and drinkers, sots and thinkers, alkies and wannabes come to unwind with tales of daring don’ts. Where people sick to death of immortality relax and swap recipes and spread rumors. A community of the exiled.
i have stories to tell and lies to lead so pull up a stool and let me tell a few.

Let me know what you think, although you’ll probably see a few trackbacks in due course…!!

Hello,
I’d appreciate if you can give me some feedback on our site: regencyshop.com
I realize that you are a bar stools connoisseur
I’d like to hear your opinion/feedback on our bar stools.
Thank you,
Susan

Susan!
Welcome to the Bar None! My favorite Bar Stool is the “Fly Bar Stool“; a real drinker needs a bar stool with a back.
Thus we draw an end to my expert opinion and your spam.

My Sweetest Hangover!
So glad you stopped by! It’s been too long. It’s true a lot of my more recent posts have focused on movies but 1) the reviews take a lot of time and 2) it’s a way for me to avoid introspection. i think i’m gonna spend more time next year on shorter posts that are a little more personal.
Thanks for patronizing me,

Mitch,
Welcome to the Bar None, brother. Sit yourself down, put your feet up and what the hell can i get you to drink?
Man, that video’s some pretty intense shit. To those of you intrigued, be warned, video contains power barfing and a bloody face plant. It’s 10pm, do you know who your children are?

What I dont comprehend is how youre not even a lot more popular than you might be now. Youre just so intelligent. You know so significantly about this topic, created me consider it from so many diverse angles. Its like men and women arent interested unless it has some thing to accomplish with Lady Gaga! Your stuffs great. Continue to keep it up!
April 11th, 2011 at 12:44 am
Ahh, just had to see my name here! Saturday I had top-fuel and flames out of my ears. It is so nice to shake hands a whole sunday. If god take this hangover from me, I will start belive in him. Help pray for me Al. At least I made urin out of vine today. Christ!
April 11th, 2011 at 4:01 pm
Ingar!
Welcome to the Bar None, brother. i don’t know how to cure a hangover, but at least hanging out here should make the suffering more fun.
Looking forward to seeing more of your art!

That video was fucking disgusting!
April 11th, 2011 at 7:07 pm
i know, right!? i tried to warn people off and i even broke one of my own cardinal sins by editing the comment (gasp!). The original comment had the video embedded and all you had to do was click ‘play’. i made it so you had to open the video in a new tab/window…
Hope you can recover from the shock, and thanks for patronizing me, babe.

I knew it was going to be bad but I had no clue they would be rolling around in vomit. I think you did well in editing that comment. GAG.
90! I’m sure watching this video can help you get to 120! Congrats Al!!!!

Alright AL, how you doing? It’s been a little while since The Bar None appeared in my subscription line up, so thought I would check to see how you are.
June 13th, 2011 at 9:51 pm
Hi Bats!
How nice of you. Like i put at the bottom of my latest post i got a lot on my burners at the moment but life is good. i’m hitting 4 AA meetings a week, working overtime, working on the Bar None, some freelance journalism for cultural events that keeps me out at nights when i’m not at AA, a couple other blogs in addition to the new one i launched. But i’m still here and still sober, passed 5 months last Saturday. i haven’t been sober longer than 6 months since i was 18 or 19; so it’ll be a big day for me!
Thanks for patronizing me,
Al K Hall

Hey,
Checking in with you. Sounds like you are doing superb. Congrats on the five months. Huge accomplishment. I hope the life changing experiences are beginning to show and become active in your daily life. Do share if you can. I personally would love to know the good, bad and the ugly!
As always my best to you!

My Sweetest Hangover!
Thanks for stopping in! i’m hanging in there and doing every day. One thing i’ve learned is that, just as drinking is a progressive disease, recovery is progressive as well. The more i put into it the better things get so i’m just glad to be here having fun.
As for the sharing, you may want to check out my last two posts. While i started out with my usual sassy self, i wrapped up the blogs with some sharing from my drinking days and an open invitation for readers to join in, and some of them even did.
Let me know what you think:
1. Celeb Mug Shot: Estella Warren
2. John Galliano: All the Rage
Thanks for patronizing me, babe,

Hey
Hows things? Looks good around here. Hope your path is clear. Liked your Estella Warren and also liked knowing ‘Skinny Girl’ is a sham. Ha I wish I would not have deleted my post on her the day I was wallowing in a hangover. I really need to figure out this word press…never sure if I am commenting in the right area. I believe this is the lounge area …

Sweet Hangover!
So great to see you ’round these parts again. It’s been awhile and you’ve been missed. Things for me have been going well; i’m eight months sober and recently got married to Mrs Demeanor! i was sorry to hear about the hangover post, but the latest one was upbeat so it was nice to see you’re doing better.
You absolutely came to the right place to leave a comment! Also, i don’t know if you noticed or not, but i’ve started a new blog which is more personal and centered on recovery, if you ever get fed up of the T&A on this site. It’s called Al K Hall-ic Anonymous, enjoy!

Hola,
So glad to hear things are well. Married and all. Marriage is the best thing. I love being married. I was a little nervous when tattoo girl moved out on what the focus of the house would be but we love the empty nest deal. 8 months sober! That is great. You must feel like a new man. I am sure your wife and family are super happy. I am guessing the days are easier. I am on a slow train. I am trying to figure out how to celebrate the small good things that come my way without a cup in my hand. I do enjoy the mornings that the Visine isn’t needed and the mascara stays on all day. One day at a time. I hope you are taking time to enjoy what you have going on. Congrats on all the new changes!

Baby, you can write; even straight. I can relate, home “drunks and drinkers, sots and thinkers, alkies and wannabes come to unwind … where people sick to death of immortality relax and swap recipes and spread rumors. A community of the exiled.” I said, God damn, you CAN W R I T E.
Just had to visit you
i’m feeling low
I feel like i screwed up with a dear friend.
Thinking too much … i live in absolute terror of screwing over people i love! More work to do … we all make mistakes. Keeping the faith that i’m doing the best i can. I love your absolute, bare bones, honest, swear to God, “i did it officer” arrest me, attitude.

Thanks for the props, babe. Sorry you feel like you screwed something up, but if making a mistake was unintentional, then the other person has a share of responsibility in this, too. They need to understand you didn’t do it on purpose and that mistakes happen. Thank god i make mistakes all the time, so i’m very humble about that kind of thing.
i hate to self promote, but one of my favorite writings on this blog can be found here: Top 10 Drinks i’m Gonna Miss.
Check out #10. This ends our shameless self promotion.

I love the line in Altman’s ‘The Wedding’ – (have I got that right or have i drunk too much?) when the drunken doctor tells the smug non-drinker- “I feel sorry for you ‘cos when you get up in the morning that’ll be the best you’ll feel all day…..”
Good night, and cheers, Rowland
January 7th, 2012 at 9:51 pm
Rowland!
Welcome, brother! Pull up a chair, put your feet on the table and what can i get you to drink?
Great line indeed! Smug non drinkers are the worst. Shit, smug anyones are the worst. i prefer my non drinkers desperate, scarred and sincere. Non drinkers like myself, in fact.
Look forward to seeing you again, man, and thanks for patronizing me,
Al K Hall
